OPDC invests in real estate, both owned and rented, as well as low income housing, to create a more stable Oakland neighborhood.
OPDC pays particular attention to providing affordable housing for the special requirements of low-income families, low-income senior housing, and affordable housing for those with special needs. OPDC builds on a long history of projects with substantial impact to stabilize the Oakland real estate market through acquisition and rehabilitation of properties, real estate development and revitalization, and increased home ownership.

Community service and residential involvement are key aspects that increase Oakland’s vitality. OPDC creates varied opportunities to achieve this goal.
A primary source of Oakland’s distinct neighborhood flavor comes from the spirit of vitality, community service, and the active involvement of its residents. OPDC plays a pivotal role in creating, coordinating, and conducting many community service programs and volunteer opportunities designed to bring the residents of Oakland together to keep their community clean, safe, attractive, and growing.
