The Oakland 2025 Master Plan identifies greening and beautification as vital areas for creating a sustainable and enjoyable community. The Oakland Green Team is a direct response to this vision for the future, and will strive to achieve this vision by creating a forum for resident ideas and actions.

The Oakland Green Team meets the third Thursday of every month and welcomes all to attend. If you miss a meeting, check this page regularly for announcements and project updates.

i live on coltart avenue and own my house. many houses on coltart are very well taken care of including mine. i am 100% for making oakland green. i have very nice landscaping flowers, bushes etc HOWEVER there is a growing problem in oakland that needs to be addressed. as we know there are several slum landlords and it is all about money, money and making more money for these slum landlords. if you look at many of these properties these slum landlords are taking out yards anything that is remotely green and putting in parking spaces where ever they can put a space to add more income for their pockets. the city needs to address this problem. they arent putting in these spaces for students or even their tennants but for hospital employees so that they can charge more. this is a fact as there are many on coltart, halket and other streets. i see and some of these employees i know because i also am a upmc employee and i walk to work everyday. it is very frustrating seeing this and it appears the city does nothing. how can oakland become green when people are trying to make this happen and then they are defeated with the slumlords ruining the “green team” work by tearing out yards and several of them are hidden in the back yards of these properties.
