Community development begins with planning and partnerships. In a community as diverse as Oakland, many different entities with distinct objectives and perspectives must find ways to co-exist, so as to ensure prudent, respectful, and productive development of available community resources. OPDC serves as the recognized conduit where these varied voices can be heard, drawing on decades of success in building a cohesive Oakland that serves its multiple interests with as much consensus and cohesion as possible.
