n 2008, OPDC launched the
“Oakland Neighborhood Partnership Program” (Oakland NPP), a six-year, $2.9 million project that will enable OPDC and other key collaborators to make high-impact, long-term investments in the Oakland community through the following core programs:
- Human Services
- Health and Wellness
- Workforce Development
- Education and Youth Empowerment
- Community Engagement, Planning, and Communications
- Code Enforcement and Advocacy
- Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety
- Business Development
- Housing Development; Quality Affordable Rental Housing
- Cleaning and Greening
- Community Promotion/Marketing, Partnerships and Collaboration
The Oakland NPP is made possible through funding from the Pennsylvania State Neighborhood Assistance Program and commitments from Dollar Bank, PNC Bank,
and UPMC Health Plan. While OPDC serves as the primary fiduciary and convening agency for the NPP, our partners are: Oakland Business Improvement District (OBID), Oakland Transportation Management Association (OTMA), Community Human Services (CHS), Oakland Community Council (OCC), and People’s Oakland. NPP dollars allow each organization to continue its current activities with secure funding, while also enabling us to partner on large-scale initiatives.
