On March 24th, over 200 people attended the Oakland 2025 Kick-Off event at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Each participant represented a unique relationship with and vision for Oakland. All participants were invited to sign up for dialogue groups to discuss ideas that matter, build relationships, and develop ideas for positive change. A total of 55 dialogue sessions took place throughout South, Central, West, and North Oakland, resulting in 110 hours of deliberative democracy. 121 people participated in the dialogue sessions, led by 25 trained facilitators.
OPDC, University of Pittsburgh faculty and staff, and Oakland community members joined together for Pitt's Day of Caring community service projects in Oakland. These pictures are from the work done at the Oakcliffe Overlook and Greenway, which included trailblazing, repairs to the fencing around the Oakcliffe Community Garden, repairs to benches in Oakcliffe Park, and modifications to the existing trail in the upper section of the park.
