Enjoy a special edition of Family Day as the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy celebrates Make Music Day Pittsburgh on Sunday, June 21!
Spend the day in the heart of Oakland enjoying free live performances and interactive musical experiences that showcase Pittsburgh’s vibrant musical community. Taking place across Schenley Plaza and the Schenley Park Visitor Center, this family-friendly celebration features everything from opera and jazz to bluegrass, folk, and hands-on music-making activities for all ages.
Presented in partnership with Azure Family Concerts, Center of Life, Pittsburgh Festival Opera, and Calliope, Make Music Day Pittsburgh is free and open to all!
Schenley Plaza Performance Schedule:
All performances take place under the Oval Tent.
Noon – 1 p.m. — Pittsburgh Festival Opera — Opera for Kids
2 –3 p.m. — Azure Family Concerts — Sensory-friendly, interactive concert
4 – 5 p.m. — Center of Life — Featuring vocalists from The KRUNK Movement and Center of Life jazz students
7 –9 p.m. — Calliope Presents: Shade Tree Collective — This talented bluegrass band brings a fresh twist to traditional sounds while honoring the roots of this beloved genre

Indoor performances (may move outdoors if weather permits).
11 a.m.–Noon — Wild Orchids — Blends delta blues, folk, and punk influences into a distinctive acoustic sound
Noon – 1 p.m. — Donna Occhipinti. — A mix of original songs and beloved classic rock favorites in an engaging solo acoustic set
1 – 2 p.m. — Ray Pelletier — Instrumental music spanning classical, Americana, jazz, and beyond
2 –3 p.m. — Mars Loves You — Heartfelt original music explores themes of identity, connection, and self-expression
