The city's Department of Mobility and Infrastructure (DOMI) is asking for public input on proposals for alternative mobility connections between Oakland, Four Mile Run, Hazelwood, and Greenfield. Pitt has hosted a series of open forums to engage the Oakland community, its organizations, and its institutions in their 2018 Master Planning Process.  This plan will serve as the blueprint that will guide the evolution of the physical and built environment on and around their campus.

In 2015, the City of Pittsburgh amended the city code to include a business license for rental units referred to as the Residential Housing Rental Permit Program. The implementation of this ordinance (Ordinance 2014-1020) has, however, been delayed for the last several years in litigation. The Department of Permits, Licenses, and Inspections (PLI) has been working with city officials to establish a process that satisfies all parties and has begun reaching out to community members to gather feedback on the current proposed Rental Registration Rules and Regulations.
